THE OCEANIC PROJECT

ABOUT US

The Oceanic Project was founded by Prashant Mohesh, on October 21, 2020, with a mission to protect the last wild places of the ocean in Mauritius. So far, we have expanded in Rodrigues Island and we have the support of the Rodrigues Youth Council. Our headquarters is located at Veranda Tamarin Hotel.

NEXT STRATEGIC GOAL

From ocean conservation, our mission and vision have expanded; our next strategic goal is to build, inspire and empower the next generation of caring planetary stewards by using National Geographic Education resources. With the help of our educational lead, Mrs Danielle Zelin, a National Geographic Certified Educator with over 25 years of teaching experience, to educate the youth in Mauritius and Rodrigues to be on the frontline of the world's most urgent and pressing issues of our time and take action.

CORAL RESTORATION

With the support of National Geographic, U.S. Embassy in Mauritius, Mission Blue Champion and Veranda Tamarin Hotel, we are engaging the youth to explore and learn how to restore corals. We are also planning to make more marine protected areas around our island by having the engagement and commitment of more hotels.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

We deeply care for the future of the youth as they are the leaders of tomorrow. We are designing more amazing and unique opportunities inspired by National Geographic Education so that we can empower and embark the youth into new #ExplorerMindset adventures, with 21-century skills needed.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC #GENGEO COURSES

We encourage the youth in Mauritius and Rodrigues to join #GenGeo global community of young people who are helping to shape the conversation, drive progress, and seek solutions to help protect our planet. Learn more about #GenGeo and register for the #GenGeo Storytelling for Impact courses to learn how to craft a story for powerful change.

EXPLORING CONSERVATION COURSES

One of the most powerful ways we can create impact is by supporting champions for the environment and the natural world. This is why the National Geographic Society is offering Exploring Conservation, a free six-course wildlife conservation series aimed at educating everyone about the importance of conservation.
